North Korea's leader Kim Jong Un held a competition among nine artillery units of the national army to check the combat readiness of the forces, state media reported Tuesday.

TOKYO (Sputnik) — According to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), Kim was pleased with the results of the competition, calling the artillery "well-trained snipers," as all the crews successfully hit the targets.

Kim personally awarded the most successful representatives of the competition, and ordered to introduce new modern warfare methods of combat training of artillery units, to enhance the efficiency of the military training and "ensure the protection of the party… of the country and its people."

The information about the time and place of the training was not made public.

Kim Jong Un, the Supreme Commander of the Korean People's Army, heads one of the largest standing armies in the world with around 5.9 million servicemen, including active duty personnel and reserves.
