WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Secretary of State John Kerry plans to speak with regional leaders in the Middle East, having spoken to Iranian and Saudi officials in the last 24 hours on their breakdown in relations, US Department of State spokesperson John Kirby said during a press briefing on Tuesday.
"He [Kerry] will continue to stay in close communication today on this issue and what he's going to be doing is talking to other leaders in the region as well," Kirby said.
He added that Kerry already made several phone calls in the past day to Iranian and Saudi leaders, including Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir and Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
