MOSCOW (Sputnik) — UK’s International Development Committee urges the government to take in 3,000 more refugee children who have come to Europe alone last year, a report published Tuesday said.
“We would welcome a decision by the Government in favour of resettling 3,000 unaccompanied children,” the parliamentary group said.
Concerns are that Syrian children are easy prey for human traffickers who force them into prostitution, child labor or the drugs trade.
The report comes after charity Save the Children called for 3,000 unaccompanied refugee children in Europe to be resettled in Britain in addition to the 20,000 Syrians to be accepted over the rest of the current UK parliament’s term.
