If North Korea’s claims prove to be true, this could become a new step in Pyongyang’s development of nuclear weapons, which is a blatant violation of norms in international law and resolutions passed by the UN Security Council.
“Such actions are extremely increase tension on the Korean Peninsula, which even without [nuclear testing by North Korea] is characterized with an extremely high potential of military and political confrontations,” the ministry statement continues.
