MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Chairman of the Britain Stronger in Europe campaign Stuart Rose thinks that the supporters of the UK's exit from the European Union, known as Brexit, pursue an "impossible fantasy," as they are unable to explain the conditions and consequences of the country's exit from the bloc, local media reported Thursday.
"This is nothing short of an impossible fantasy… It’s simply not acceptable for your [anti-EU] campaign to continue to duck questions about what ‘out’ looks like. You must produce hard evidence to back up your assertions and be realistic about the economic consequences," Rose said in a letter addressed to his counterparts in Vote Leave and Leave.eu anti-EU campaigns, as quoted by The Guardian.
According to Rose, campaigners supporting Brexit have to openly explain the UK people how the country will be developing outside Europe and retain its benefits, including access to the single market, protection of jobs, trade and investments to the country.
London wants the right not to commit itself to the EU pledge of an "ever closer union," curb social benefits for EU migrants, secure greater protections for non-Eurozone countries in the bloc, and more powers for national government.
On Tuesday, UK prime minister announced the ministers were allowed to choose individually whether to campaign for or against Brexit.
