‘Cologne-Style’ Attacks on Women Reported in Austria, Switzerland
BERLIN (Sputnik) – The police chief of the German city of Cologne has been sent into early retirement following multiple sexual assaults on New Year’s Eve, a police spokeswoman said Friday.

"The head of police [Wolfgang Albers] did not resign, he was officially sent into retirement early," police spokeswoman Martina Kaiser told the Bild tabloid.

On New Year's Eve, numerous women in Cologne were robbed, threatened and sexually assaulted by small groups of aggressive men allegedly of Arab and North African origin. The police have received over 170 complaints to date.

The German Interior Ministry announced earlier on Friday that 29 of 32 identified assailants were migrants.
