“In 2016, the Northern Fleet will continue to upgrade weapons, military and special equipment, and combine parts of the fleet. Anti-aircraft missile regiments providing air cover to the main bases of submarine forces will continue to receive the S-400 Triumph. For the defense of coastal troops the new Pantsir-3 and coastal missile system Bastion will be provided,” the press service of the Northern Fleet reported.
Also, the compound rocket ships of the fleet will be transferred to the parent frigate project 22350, named ‘Admiral Gorshkov’. It has successfully passed the first phase of tests in the White Sea.
The press service also recalled that last year, the Northern Fleet had received the research oceanographic vessel ‘Yentar’, special purpose vehicle ‘Yuri Ivanov’, sea transport weapons ship ‘Academic Kovalev,’ as well as modern self-propelled floating cranes.
