Avalanche Leaves 16,000 People Cut Off From Civilization in Dagestan
An avalanche cut off access to over 50 settlements home to about 16,000 people in Russia’s North Caucasus Republic of Dagestan, a regional Emergencies Ministry representative told RIA Novosti on Saturday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The avalanche blocked the only road leading to the settlements in the Tlyaratinsky District in western Dagestan at about 22:30 local time (19:30 GMT) on Friday, according to the representative.
There have been no reports of casualties.
