BERLIN (Sputnik) — At least eight German nationals were killed and other nine were injured in a a suicide bomb attack in the Turkish city of Istanbul on Tuesday, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier said.
"According to preliminary data provided by the Turkish authorities, eight Germans are among the victims of this deadly terrorist act, while other nine are injured, some of them severely," Steinmeier told reporters.
Steinmeier added that German diplomats in Turkey are clarifying the circumstances of the incident and the number of casualties.
Ten people were killed and at least 15 injured in the attack in the Sultanahmet district, near the famous Blue Mosque — a popular tourist attraction.
