Not content with simply accessing Clapper’s email, the hacker reportedly forwarded all calls to the intelligence director to Paul Larudee, the co-founder of the Free Palestine Movement organization.
The hacker provided phone numbers belonging to either Clapper or his wife, Susan, to Motherboard.
Following the group’s last exploit, breaching the FBI’s Joint Automated Booking System, or JABS, they tweeted screenshots of activist-turned-political-prisoner Jeremy Hammond’s arrest records, including the names and phone numbers of the agents involved in his arrest.
A criminal inquiry has been opened by the FBI and the Secret Service regarding the hacks, some of the contents of which was released by WikiLeaks.
"The FBI is investigating this matter jointly with the US Secret Service,” a spokeswoman for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington told Reuters in October. “As this is an ongoing investigation, we declined further comment."
Following their attacks last year, the group stated that their actions were intended to support Palestine, and were in protest of US support of Israel. The group once again echoed that intention following the current breach.
“I just wanted the gov to know people aren’t f*cking around, people know what they're doing and people don’t agree #FreePalestine,” they told Motherboard.
