"Since the beginning of the Syrian conflict, 3,318 people have been detained in Turkey in course of fight against terrorism, 847 have been arrested. Most of them foreigners. As of today, a ban on entry to Turkey has been imposed on 35,970 people from 124 countries, 387 people among them are German citizens," Ala said at a joint press conference with German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere.
Ala added that 2,894 people from 92 countries have been deported, 94 of the deported were from Germany.
De Maiziere arrived in Turkey following the Tuesday's attack at a tram stop full of holidaymakers in Istanbul's Sultanahmet district, a very popular tourist sight. The blast killed 10 people, including at least eight German tourists. Some 17 people were injured in the attack, including nine Germans, a Peruvian and a Norwegian.
Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has stated that the suicide bombing in Istanbul was linked to Islamic State terrorist group, which is outlawed in many countries, Russia among them.
