MOSCOW (Sputnik) — An ARY News staffer was heavily wounded and taken to hospital after attackers riding a motorbike threw a grenade and fired a rifle at the office in a drive-by shooting.
Security guards repelled the attackers who scattered propaganda leaflets around the place before leaving the scene.
According to the channel, Daesh militant group claimed responsibility for the attack, which they said came in response to a military operation launched in 2014 by Pakistan against various militant groups in the country.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has condemned the attack and ordered to beef up security at the ARY News head office.
Daesh was designated as a terrorist organization in Pakistan in August 2015. The terrorist group is outlawed in several other nations, including in the European Union, the United States and Russia.
