TOKYO (Sputnik) — North Korea’s recent nuclear test is a serious challenge to the world, as well as regional and global security, South Korean President Park Geun-hye said Wednesday.
On January 6, Pyongyang claimed it had carried out a hydrogen bomb test.
"This nuclear test is a serious challenge to our security, a big threat to the future and the very existence of our nation, unacceptable provocation that threatens peace and security not only in Northeast Asia but the whole world," Park Geun-hye said in the address to South Korea, as broadcast by the local television channel.
The South Korean leader added that Seoul would propose to impose the most strict sanctions on North Korea, in order to make the country denounce nuclear arms.
