"We constantly strive to ensure the highest level of security for tourists wishing to visit our country, it is our primary task," the minister said.
The additional measures include the purchase of new scanners and metal detectors, increasing the number of security staff working in tourism, as well as the number of police dogs, according to the statement.
Full control over security at the main Red Sea resorts of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada is due to be introduced.
On January 8, two gunmen attacked the Bella Vista Hotel on the Red Sea coast, injuring three foreign tourists, specifically, two Austrians and one Swede. The incident drew international attention and led to mass cancellations of trips to the country.
Following the attacks, the Egyptian authorities promised to strengthen security measures at the resorts.
