Prominent human rights lawyer Wang Yu, who has been in detention in China for over six months, was officially arrested Thursday on charges of "state subversion," media reports suggested.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) —Wang Yu's husband, lawyer Bao Longjun, was also arrested and charged with "incitement to state subversion," the BBC reported.

More than 130 attorneys and legal staff were summoned for questioning in China in July 2015.

Earlier this week, Chinese authorities arrested seven other rights lawyers and their associates on similar charges.
