Developing ties within the Collective Security Treaty Organization, the Eurasian Economic Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States as well as with South Ossetia and Abkhazia are among the priorities of the Russian foreign policy.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – One of Russia’s key foreign policies is the development of cooperation with the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia, according to a revamped Russian Security Council strategy for national security.
“The Strategy’s new edition specifies the tasks in the area of Russia’s cooperation with its partners in the Collective Security Treaty Organization and Eurasian Economic Union. It’s also noted that one of the key directions on [Russia’s] foreign policy is the development of bilateral and multilateral cooperation with member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Republic of Abkhazia, and the Republic of South Ossetia,” according to a statement by the Russian Security Council’s deputy secretary, Rashid Nurgaliyev.
