NOVO-OGARYOVO (Sputnik) – Trade volume between Russia and Greece in 2015 has dropped by 36 percent to $2.28 billion because of sanctions imposed on Russia by the European Union, according to materials disseminated during a meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Greek President Prokopios Pavlopoulos on Friday.
“Because of the sanction policy of the European Union, the volumes of trade turnover dropped in 2015. Turnover decreased by 36 percent to $2.28 billion. Russian exports were at $2.1 billion [a drop of 33.5 percent], and imports from Greece decreased by 54.6 percent to $192 million,” the material reads.
Pavlopoulos is visiting Russia for the first time and this is his first meeting with Putin since he became the Greek president in March of 2015.
