MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Gunmen in Burkina Faso killed at least 27 people before security forces stormed a hotel and a cafe frequented by westerners, the French ambassador to the West African nation said Saturday.
"Death toll: 27 dead. Nationality of the deceased not yet known," Gilles Thibault tweeted.

Thibault said a total of 150 people from 18 countries have been evacuated since the siege of Splendid hotel and Cappuccino cafe in Ouagadougou started late on Friday.
Thibault said three gunmen, no women among them, have been killed in a security operation to reclaim the establishments.
Other outlets cite sources as saying at least one woman was among the assailants. Local witnesses say the attacks were carried out by 15 extremists, four of whom were reported killed earlier.
