MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) president Jin Liqun said Sunday he would act in line with the institution’s high principles of transparency and accountability.
"I am most grateful to our shareholders for the trust and confidence, and I am deeply committed to running the institution according to the highest possible standard, and according to the principles outlined in the bank's article agreement: transparency, openness, accountability and independence," Jin told reporters during a press conference in Beijing.
The China-proposed bank officially started its work on Saturday.
The AIIB is an international financial institution created to invest in infrastructure projects in the Asia-Pacific region. In October 2014, the Articles of Agreement establishing the bank were signed by 21 states. At the moment there are 57 founding members in the bank, including China, Russia, India, Saudi Arabia, Iran, Germany, France and the United Kingdom.
