TEHRAN (Sputnik) —Some 114 Airbus passenger planes will be delivered to Iran by late June, an Iran Air source told Sputnik on Sunday.
On Saturday, Iran's Transportation Minister Abbas Ahmad Akhoundi said Tehran had reached an agreement with the French Airbus Group SE on procuring the planes for its Iran Air national carrier company.
"Delivery of the 114 Airbus passenger aircraft to an Iranian airline [Iran Air] will be completed in late June, deliveries will be carried out in three or four batches starting from March," the source said.
US President Barack Obama lifted a decades-old ban on selling aircraft and repair parts to Iran's aviation companies on Friday.
On Saturday, the European Union and the United Nations have terminated sanctions targeting Iran after global nuclear watchdog IAEA verified Tehran’s compliance with a nuclear agreement reached last July.
