MOSCOW (Sputnik) — EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini met Jordanian Nasser Judeh to discuss cooperation between Amman, Brussels ahead of Foreign Affairs Council, a press release on the EU External Action website said.
"High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini met this evening Foreign Minister of Jordan, Nasser Judeh, ahead of Monday's Foreign Affairs Council where the Minister will join his European Union's colleagues for a discussion on EU-Jordanian relations and the situation and challenges in the broader Middle East region," the press release said on Sunday.
The press release added that the sides discussed the refugee crisis and Jordanian efforts in hosting thousands of refugees, mostly from Syria, as well as economic cooperation between the European Union and Brussels.
Currently Jordan hosts some 630,000 refugees from crisis-torn Syria, according to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR).
