Yemen has been plunged in a military conflict between government forces and an armed Shiite Houthi political opposition faction since 2014.
Since late March 2015, a Saudi-led coalition has been carrying out airstrikes against Houthi positions at the request of Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi.
Reports on non-military facilities’ bombardment in the coalition’s air campaign have occasionally emerged in recent months. In particular, a local source told Sputnik on January 11 that an airstrike conducted by the Saudi-led coalition had damaged the Martyr Saif Al-Sawadi Hospital in the Sawadi district of central Yemen’s Bayda province.
This comes a day after a bomb killed several health workers at a medical center in Yemen’s Razeh district in the northern Sadaa province. The center was supported by Doctors Without Borders (MSF), who said this was the third time an MSF facility had been attacked in the past three months.
