MOSCOW(Sputnik) — On December 21, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev announced that the number of all Russian public servants would be reduced by 10 percent.
"The civil service in the military department is only in the Defense Ministry’s central office, not in the troops. Therefore, the reduction will only affect the central office," Tatiana Shevtsova told reporters.
The official explained that the cuts would affect only vacant workplaces.
"There will be no cuts to personnel, no one will allow dismissals of the Russian Defense Ministry employees."
Some 710,000 of Russian citizens hold posts of civil servants, according to the Russian Federal State Statistics Service’s estimates.
