MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Russian Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachyov and Agriculture Jihad Minister Mahmoud Hojjati are expected to meet in Tehran. The two ministers will also talk about cooperation in veterinary, phytosanitary and fishery areas.
Earlier in January, Vice President of Iran Chamber of Commerce Mohamadreza Ansari told Sputnik that Iran intends to intensify goods export, of food products in particular, to Russia in course of the plan on Tehran-Moscow economic ties extension.
Moscow and Tehran have long been developing bilateral economic relations. The cooperation intensified after Russia imposed food ban on Turkey among other economic measures, following an incident with Ankara downing a Russian Su-24 attack aircraft over an alleged airspace violation.
On Sunday, Iran saw UN, EU, and US sanctions lifted from it following implementation of Tehran's nuclear obligations. This has restored the Islamic Republic’s access to the global market.
