Last month, the current president of the organization, 60-year-old Michel Platini, was banned along with FIFA President Joseph Blatter by FIFA’s Independent Ethics Committee Adjudicatory Chamber from any football-related activities for a period of eight years over corruption allegations.

In late September, the Swiss Office of the Attorney General launched a probe into corruption claims against Blatter over making a "disloyal payment" of $2.05 million to Platini in 2011 at the expense of FIFA, for work allegedly performed in 1999-2002.

FIFA will elect a new president on February 26, 2016.
