CAIRO (Sputnik) — UK Parliamentary Under Secretary for Transport Tariq Ahmad will discuss resumption of flights to Egypt’s Red Sea resort Sharm el-Sheikh during his trip to Cairo, Egyptian media reported Tuesday.
Ahmad, who is responsible for aviation security, arrived in Cairo on Monday for a three-day visit. He is due to meet Egyptian authorities to discuss transport cooperation, including UK’s current ban on Sharm el-Sheikh flights, Egypt’s private newspaper Youm7 said.
The investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing, but Russian authorities said in mid-November that it appeared to have been caused by an explosive device on board the flight. Militants affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIL) terror group claimed responsibility for what they said was a bomb attack.
