WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Last year, Dunford named Russia as the biggest threat to the United States.
"[Dunford will] attend the January 21 NATO Military Committee/Chiefs of Staff meeting," the Department of Defense News, the official news of the US military provided on its website or via its press office, reported.
In Brussels, Dunford will "discuss Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan, the counter-ISIL [Islamic State] campaign, regional security challenges posed by Russia and the surge of refugees in Europe."
Dunford and the NATO committee will also discuss the alliance’s future strategy and the military advice and guidance that will be given to the North Atlantic Council and Defense Ministers in the run-up to the NATO Summit in Warsaw later this year, the report said.
"The meeting will host Mediterranean Dialogue counterparts on the topic of security developments in the region and military-to-military cooperation," Department of Defense News added.
Russia has repeatedly refuted such allegations, and has warned that NATO’s activities to amass personnel and equipment on Russia’s borders are hostile acts that can destabilize the region.
