TOKYO (Sputnik) — Masaru Tanaka, the ex-chief of economic research at Japan's central bank, will advise Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko, a US-born investment banker, on how to overhaul the country’s financial system, the public broadcaster NHK said.
Pressure has mounted on the Ukrainian finance chief to restore the nation’s economy amid declining growth, rising unemployment rates and a slide in the gross domestic product due to the ongoing conflict in the country's southeast.
Last December, Jaresko told Ukrainian media she would not resign as long as she was able to conduct financial reforms after some lawmakers demanded that the cabinet step down.
