NEW DELHI (Sputnik) — Indian anti-terror forces arrested on Friday a suspected operative of the Daesh (Islamic State) terrorist group, sources in the Indian Home Affairs Ministry told Sputnik.
"Indian government is really concerned as more and more Indians are being influenced by ISIS [Daesh]," a home ministry source said.
The suspect was detained in Mumbra, a town in the Thane district of the Maharashtra state, during a joint operation by the state and federal anti-terror forces.
Last Saturday, Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh met top officials of intelligence and investigative agencies as well as police from 13 Indian states to discuss ways to stem the growing influence of Daesh, outlawed in many countries including Russia, among Indian youth.
