BISHKEK (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, Kyrgyzstan’s parliament approved the corresponding bill. According to the procedure, the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry should now notify the Russian government of the termination of the agreements.
The legislation will come into force 15 days after the date of its publication.
The agreement on the construction of the Kambar-Ata 1 hydropower plant and the Upper-Naryn Cascade hydropower dams was reached in 2012.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said earlier that the problems with Russian hydroelectric projects in Kyrgyzstan were connected with the global economic crisis.
