MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Since late on Thursday, Slovenia has been turning back those who do not plan to seek asylum either in the country or in Austria or Germany.
The newcomers arrived in the southeastern Slovenian town of Dobovo aboard two trains, the public broadcaster RTV Slovenija said Friday.
The radio station cited Interior Minister Vesna Gyorkos Znidar as saying that only refugees who want to apply for asylum in neighboring Austria or Germany would be allowed to cross through Slovenia due to similar asylum application rules in those countries.
Earlier this week, Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner said refugees would not be allowed to travel past Germany, after thousands made their way northward in an attempt to reach affluent Scandinavian countries.
