MANAMA (Sputnik) – The fourth annual Bahrain International Airshow (BIAS-2016) concluded with a record $9 billion in signed contracts, Bahraini Transport Minister Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed said Saturday.
"The deals struck are valued at $9 billion, which is 4.5 times greater than the transactions made at the first airshow in 2010," Mohammed said at a press conference.
Over 100 pieces of aviation equipment were exhibited and the number of participants at BIAS-2016 saw a 60-percent increase to 139 companies, the minister added.
He disclosed plans to move up the date of the next airshow from January to November 14-16, 2018, to coincide with the Dubai airshow.
