TROMSØ (Norway), (Sputnik) – Industrial development and environmental protection in the Arctic are at the top of the agenda of the January 24-29 forum.
This year's Arctic Frontiers focuses on achieving a balance between resource utilization and preservation. Delegates are expected to explore the role of existing and emerging technologies in balancing profitability and environmental friendliness in developing the region.
Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg is expected to address the delegates from Sweden, Denmark, Slovakia and other countries.
Tromsø has become a platform for policymakers and researchers to discuss the most pressing political, economic, environmental and development issues in the far north over the past decade.
After a plenary session on Monday, participants will break up into groups to work in the world's northernmost University of Tromsø.
