KIEV (Sputnik) — Ukrainian companies will file a set of lawsuits against Russia to international courts in two weeks, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said Sunday.
"In two weeks, you will see a number of legal proceedings [against Russia]," Poroshenko told reporters.
Earlier in January, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov said that Moscow will file a suit against Ukraine’s unpaid arrears standing at $3 billion at the end of January.
The two-year Eurobond which was secured in 2013 by the government of then-President Viktor Yanukovych matured on December 20.
The Russian Finance Ministry announced on December 31 that Ukraine had defaulted as it had missed the 10-day deadline to repay the debt.
Russia disagrees with Ukraine's stance that the bond is part of an external commercial debt, arguing that the bond is a loan provided by one country to another.
