"United will not operate Saturday and Sunday [Sunday and Monday in the Eastern Hemisphere] service at Dulles and other Washington metro area airports and expects to gradually resume service on Monday," " the airline said on Saturday in a statement on its website.

The airline plans to start "very limited" operations on Sunday afternoon at its Newark Liberty Airport hub and other New York City metro area airports, according to the statement.
According to media reports, some 7,600 flights have been canceled all across the United States. The blizzard has prompted governors of at least 11 US states to declare states of emergency.
