MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Kremlin supports the creation of new political parties and inter-party competition, as long as it takes place within the framework of Russian legislation, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Monday.
Earlier in the day, Russian media reported that Business Ombudsman Boris Titov was holding talks with liberal political parties on leading a new pro-business political force during the September Parliamentary election campaign.
"The process of party building, that takes place within the framework of the law, can only be encouraged, as well as party diversity and competition among political parties. This is something that is supported," Peskov told reporters, commenting on Titov’s initiative.
The next Russian legislative election will be held on September 18, 2016.
