RIGA (Sputnik) – On January 13, Latvian President Raimonds Vejonis nominated Kucinskis as the country's new prime minister following the resignation of Laimdota Straujuma from the office amid disagreements within her ruling coalition over the budget for 2016.
"[The] New government could be formed on February 11," Kucinskis told reporters.
He added that he would finish the negotiations with country's political parties and would decide on potential ministerial positions in a week.
Kucinskis, who is from the Greens and Farmers Union political party, used to be mayor of Latvia's northeastern town of Valmiera and the minister of Regional Development and Local Governments.
