MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The president’s visit is believed to result in the conclusion of numerous business contracts. In Rome alone, Rouhani is expected to sign deals with Italian companies worth some $18 billion, the BBC broadcaster said Monday.
Rouhani is also scheduled to meet with Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Matteo Renzi during his stay in the country.
On Tuesday, the Iranian politician is expected to meet Pope Francis in Vatican, heading the next day to Paris to meet the French top officials.
Rouhani's schedule has been loaded with state visits and receptions after Tehran’s compliance with the 2014 landmark nuclear agreement was verified earlier in January, easing sanctions and reviving Iran’s global trade.
