"In line with the 2011 Vienna Document on confidence-building measures and security, a group of Russian inspectors plans to visit a German Armed Forces facility for evaluation purposes," Ryzhkov said.
According to him, such evaluations are carried out in order to verify information on military forces and plans for the deployment of major weapon systems and military equipment.
"The inspectors will visit the military facility in Germany at its normal peacetime location, in what will be followed by a briefing, where the command will provide information on the personnel, as well as the main arms systems and military hardware," he said.
Europe's security architecture includes several agreements on disarmament, arms control and confidence-building measures in the military sector.
The document stipulates an annual exchange of military information about forces located in Europe, notifications for risk reduction including consultation regarding unusual military activities and hazardous incidents, the observation of certain military activities, as well as compliance guidelines and rules requiring verification via inspection and evaluation visits.
