"We have a damaged facade and a ruptured car window but we are not aware of any injuries to people," said police spokeswoman Carina Skagerlind. "Obviously something has exploded but it doens't appear to be major damage."
Police are on the scene.
Following the Paris attacks last year, Sweden raised its threat level to its second-highest.
Two bombs also exploded in central Stockholm before Christmas in 2010.
