"Every year, the lives of millions of children and their families are disrupted, upended or nearly destroyed by emergencies," the release said. "Conflict, human-made disasters and wide-ranging, climate-change events challenge the lives of many who are vulnerable."
UNICEF explained its goals include treating 2 million children for severe malnutrition, providing 11.3 vaccinations and clean water to 22.6 million children and their families, as well as basic education to 4 million children, the press release said.
Another goal is to offer psychological support to 2 million children, the release added.
When family members are included, the targeted 43 million children will benefit 76 million people in 63 nations, according to UNICEF.
One focus of the program is the Syrian refugee crisis, including the wave of asylum seekers seeking to settle in Europe, the release noted.
