KIEV(Sputnik) — Ukraine estimates it needs to purchase 11-13 billion cubic meters of natural gas in 2016 and Kiev hopes to get this volume through reverse supplies, Ukraine's Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn said Wednesday.
"Naftogaz has come up with its estimate of the balance, we understand that we will need to purchase 11-13 billion cubic meters of gas this year, but, in principle, we can procure such volume through reverse supplies," Demchyshyn told journalists.
The following month, Ukraine halted purchases of Russian gas, saying the pricing offered by its European partners was much lower than that offered by Moscow.
Kiev Mayor Vitaliy Klichko said last week that Ukraine had enough gas reserves for this winter heating season in underground gas storages.
