Treasury Claim on Corruption in Russia Reflects Obama Administration View
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Lavrov underscored that the United States was solely responsible for "deliberately increasing tensions in bilateral relations" with Russia.

"While discussing problems in Russian-US relations, Lavrov expressed indignation over made up and shameless accusations against the Russian leadership, voiced in recent days by senior Obama administration officials," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier in the week, Adam Szubin, acting Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence at the US Treasury, directly accused Putin of corruption in an interview with the BBC. The statement was later backed by White House spokesman Josh Earnest, who said that it "best reflects" the view of the US presidential administration.
