REUTOV (Sputnik) — NPO Mashinostroyenia is involved in the Indian-Russian joint venture BrahMos Aerospace, named after the Brahmaputra and Moskva rivers.
BrahMos-S is a submarine-launched version of the short-range BrahMos supersonic missile.
BrahMos has been in use by the Indian Navy since 2005. It has a range of 180 miles and can carry a conventional warhead of up to 660 pounds.
"In its new submarine projects, the Indian Defense Ministry plans to use BrahMos-S [missiles] that are launched from underwater," NPO Mashinostroyenia Director General Alexander Leonov said.
