Keeping Secrets
20:47 GMT 29.01.2016 (Updated: 10:43 GMT 06.08.2022) Next week, the House Judiciary Committee will begin its first hearing on the NSA domestic spying program. Affording themselves a luxury not given to the American people, the surveillance agency was granted that the hearing be conducted in private.
Government accountability groups and regular citizenry in the country have expressed outrage over the decision. The ACLU, Human Rights Watch, Amnesty International, Electronic Frontier Foundation, and others, have signed a letter protesting the hearing’s absence of transparency.
