Russia Rules Out Withdrawal From Council of Europe
13:43 GMT 29.01.2016 (Updated: 13:45 GMT 29.01.2016) Russia is not planning to withdraw from the Council of Europe, the head of the foreign affairs committee in the lower house of the Russian parliament said Friday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He added that Russia's delegation would participate in the institutions of the Council of Europe, including in the European Court of Human Rights.
"We are not discussing withdrawal from the Council of Europe," Alexei Pushkov told reporters at a press conference.

The relations between Russia's authorities and the institutions of the Council of Europe deteriorated following Crimea's reunification with Russia.
In April 2014, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution, depriving the Russian delegation of its voting rights, after Crimea had become a part of Russia.
Russian lawmakers were barred from participating in PACE's three key bodies — its bureau, presidential committee and standing committee. The 2014 resolution curbing Russia’s rights in the Assembly was prolonged a year later.
