VLADIVOSTOK (Sputnik) – "Our goal is to launch the simplified entry visa regime starting from July 1, 2016 at the first two entry sites: the Vladivostok International Airport and the Sea Passenger Terminal of Vladivostok," Minister for the Development of the Russian Far East Alexander Galushka said.

All visas will be issued in the form of an electronic document and foreign citizens will be required to file for a visa online no less than three days ahead of their arrival date, according to the draft submitted by Minvostokrazvitiya.

The visa will allow foreign nationals to stay on the territory of the free port for eight days.

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a legislation establishing the Vladivostok Free Port on July 13, 2015. The law came into force on October 12.

A free port has the right to perform duty-free import and export of goods and is excluded from the state customs territory. Vladivostok previously had this status between 1861 and 1909.
