MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the poll carried out by the ComRes research consultancy for the Daily Mail newspaper, 36 percent said they would like to leave the bloc, while ten percent of the surveyed remain undecided on the issue.
Over a third of Britons agreed that the UK national security would be better within the union, comparing to a quarter of those who disagree, the poll showed. Some 44 percent of British adults consider that UK economy would benefit from staying in the European Union, while 23 percent said the economic situation would improve if Britain left the block.
The pollster interviewed 1,006 UK adults by phone between January 22 and 24.
UK Prime Minister David Cameron vowed to hold a referendum on the United Kingdom's membership in the European Union by the end of 2017. Ahead of the vote, Cameron is seeking to revise the terms of the UK’s membership in the bloc.
An ORB poll carried out earlier in January showed that 54 percent of UK residents were in favor of leaving the European Union.
