Economically, Middle Eastern and African countries cannot compete equally with European manufacturers.
European farmers, for example, receive government subsidies that help them to grow agricultural products. However, African farmers don't have that luxury and have to compete in the global agricultural market on their own.
"We have broken the lives of millions of people… We create a situation in which they [African farmers] cannot compete with our manufacturers, and their markets are completely destroyed, they remain without work," the Italian journalist said.
"We broke Libya, our Europeans, NATO, France and Britain attacked a free country, autonomous and sovereign," Chiesa told the Russian news agency.
The destruction of the Libyan regime and the overthrow of Muammar Gaddafi's government led to a civil war which continues to go on today. As a result, Europe is facing wave after wave of refugees running away from war-torn areas, Chiesa explained.
