"[Damascus] has a fundamental responsibility, all the parties to the conflict have a duty to facilitate humanitarian access to population in desperate need — not in a week, not after further discussions, but right now," Kerry said in the statement.
"The world has to push in one direction — towards stopping the oppression and suffering of the Syrian people…. nothing would do more to cut the legs of Daesh [Arab name for Islamic State] than negotiation on a political solution in Syria, that will allow all sides, all parties, all countries to focus on defeating the Daesh terrorist group once and for all,"
The humanitarian crisis in Syria, "already disastrous and unacceptable" is growing worse, and a comprehensive end to the ongoing conflict must be put as soon as possible, the US top diplomat stated.
